Whew, that was fun!

The holiday season has come and gone. I had a very successful 4 months to say the least. I am thankful for each person that I photographed this year. I did manage to take a break the week of Christmas to enjoy being present with my family.

Some people don’t realize how much you are away from your family as a photographer. I worked every weekday and every weekend for 5.5 months straight. Keep in mind, I have a baby also that just turned 10 months old. My husband has been my rock this season for sure. I am so grateful for him and his support.

Now that we’ve started a brand new year, my brain doesn’t want to stop. I often lay awake, like now (1:26AM) and plan my upcoming sessions or recap sessions and how I could improve with technique or lighting. Every session is an opportunity to become better at my talent. I spend hours overthinking backgrounds and how to go above and beyond for each client.

Today I had a full day of Valentine cuties! What a whirlwind of a day. I must say, I’ve had the best time. The giant 5.5 foot heart was a hit. The baby booties with little kisses just topped it all off. Maybe I can’t sleep because I am excited about editing... who knows! My mind has literally thought of everything.

I’ve had some inquiries about upcoming sessions. Here is a quick rundown of my year:

january - valentine

Febuary - St Patrick’s Day

March - Easter (baby chicks)

April - Spring Tea Party Theme & Mother’s Day

May - Father’s Day  & Spring Tea Party

June - 4th of July & Summer Fishing/Camping

July - Back to School  & Christmas in July

August  - small break

September - Fall Family

October - Halloween

November/December  - Santa Only

Currently I am most excited about the Tea Party Theme! This is a shoot I’ve been planning for years. It will have a Mad Hatter twist so the boys can be a part of it without being too girly! There will be top hats, bow ties, huge bunnies, clocks, chandeliers and so much more!

Santa is our biggest event of the year! I will start building the new set in April. We have huge plans and hope to offer an indoor and outdoor theme this year! We’ve also added a few other fun perks I can’t wait to debut! In the meantime we will be launching our Southern Belle Santa website so you guys can interact with santa all year long!

As for me, well Baby Sunshine is awake, so I will have to catch you all up on more details later! Goodnight!

XOXO ~ Jen

Taking a little sunshine everywhere I go ....

As most of you all know, I have an 8 month old. Life as a photographer is complex when you have a little one in tow all the time. Every day she goes with me to work whether it is Stewart Custom Cabinets or photo shoots. On the weekends her dad spends time with her, of course but sometimes she joins me along with her big sister.

I am grateful to have a job surrounded by people that not only love my talent but love my kids. My oldest grew up doing the same, tagging along with me to shoots. She was the biggest help when kids didn't want to smile or didn't want to listen. I've learned a lot of tricks over the last 7 years for sure.

Yesterday, #babysunshine and I went to visit The WIldflower Market to get ready for an event we are photographing for them. When we arrived I got the baby out, she woke up and of course if was past time for her to eat. I had a bottle ready so once I got her out we sat outside the shop at the picnic table while she ate. The owner's mom came outside and kept us company while she ate, it was so nice!

Like all babies/kids do, when you need to do something they always take their sweet time.. #babysunshine took 45 minutes to finish her bottle! I had a lot to do so half way through the bottle Mrs. Rachel allowed us to enter the store and allowed Sunshine to get comfy on the couch to finish her bottle while I got the images I needed of the shop.

I simply love these women! They are so welcoming and kind. Here are a few images from The Wildflower Market and a link to the event they are hosting. Please stop by to witness the kindness yourself. The shop is simply amazing and has a ton of great clothes, jewelry and custom apparel - hats, etc.

There's nothing better than a proper Southern Santa!

Yesterday, we welcomed our first round of holiday cheer with 5 families visiting Santa! What an exciting day. This was my first time shooting in the custom built workshop we've been building since July.

My home studio has been transforming into Santa's Workshop for a few months now! We are happy to say we finished up a couple weeks ago but the excitement and anticipation of the first real run was yesterday. Jenson and I have worked countless hours and have had help from other friends/local businesses to get this accomplished. What started as an ordinary dining room is now a Christmas masterpiece. We have a custom rustic workshop table and matching benches courtesy of Stewart Custom Cabinets in Jefferson. They built, stained, sealed and helped design the perfect piece for our workshop. We have local artist such as Ricky Fitzpatrick of Apple Valley Farms that crafted angels from the wood at the Pendergrass Jail and Ellen White provided us with a custom painted window! Thank you to each of you guys for helping this become real!

For those last minute folks, we do have a few times available and would love to have you this upcoming weekend - Nov 4 & 5th. To reserve your spot - please click here.

Fall is headed South!

When you live in Georgia the weather enjoys playing tricks on you! One day it is perfect fall weather and the next it is blazing hot again. While the month of October is the month that officially welcomes Fall, we Georgians experience the perfect fall weather around the end of the month or first of November.

This year we wanted to get a jump on fall images for those clients wanting to get cards ordered and images ordered for the upcoming holiday season. With this early jump we were able to secure the best prop on the planet, Jim's old blue truck!

We had the best time with several families and look forward to our Winter Truck sessions. If you aren't sure when those are please check out our Book Now page
